When is 30 29?

A quiet week on the Fringe front - though a few updates and amendments on the first seven entries are on the website.

The classical music entries are looking especially strong at this early stage. Maybe that tells us something about the organising minds behind such ventures?

Why is it - on the other hand - that so much drama arrives late on?

Anyway, a correspondent pointed out an error (just one!) in last week's article. In 2009 we shall be running the 30th Festival Fringe (but it will not be the 30th anniversary). The Fringe began in 1980 so 2010 will be the 30th anniversary year.

This will remind some of the pointless but heated arguments around the time of the new millennium which did, of course, begin on January 1st 2001 and not January 1st 2000 (which was the last year of the old millennium). Let's not re-run that business though.

Some of you, I know, like to help the Fringe in any way that you can. One way you may be able to help is to offer accommodation to performers. You may have a spare bed that you could rent for a few nights. Most performers on the Fringe are working with very small budgets and the town's hotels are sometimes out of their price range. If you think you can offer some space please e-mail us - go the website: www.buxtonfringe.org.uk
