Daily News

My reader complained to me that there was nothing on this Blog for about a fortnight and then there was a whole rush of stuff! Now there has been another lapse. Well, dear reader (this may well be literal) some news just for you!

The Buxton Festival Fringe - naturally enough - grew-up around the main venues of the Buxton Opera Festival. As the Fringe has grown, however, new venues have been needed. The very latest venues are at the plush Buckingham Hotel - just a few minutes walk from the Opera House, down St John's Road and opposite the Pavilion Gardens.

Club Acoustic is something of a legend (if not phenomenon) in Buxton - organising gigs on a regular basis throughout the year. (Mostly folky/jazzy/country sort of stuff- invariably delicious). Anyway a brilliant set of gigs have been lined-up for the Fringe this year in a Marquee and/or Roots Room. Check out the website - see Fringe 2007 (under Music in this case!):

Equally hot news is the confirmation by High Peak Borough Council that it will fund the Fringe for the next three years. £500 each year has been offered - and accepted. This represents about 5% of the Fringe's annual budget and helps with the medium-term planning - giving us a certain income as we seek to expand and extend your favourite Fringe.

The last picture drew a lot of response. Heaven knows what our sensitive readers will make of this image from the drama category in this year's programme! Bye for now!
